NOTE: This event has been postponed until October 15, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each year on or around 29th April, women worldwide celebrate the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) international network by joining together to Walk the World.
The aim is to raise awareness of ACWW’s work, promote the organization and raise money for Pennies for Friendship.
Funds raised further develop ACWW's core work in raising the standard of living for rural women and their families through awareness-raising, advocacy, education, training and community development programmes, supporting rural women and girls, and helping eliminate gender discrimination.
Message from the ACWW President: When considering your meetings, gatherings, and events such as Women Walk the World, please be aware of official advice relevant to your location and nation. Please rely on this official advice, rather than some of the nonsense being spread on social media.
As for the FWIC / WI CANADA challenge of Women Walk the World, with the COVID-19 warnings to maintain our distance from each other and limit social contact here in Canada, some will no doubt have to postpone the decision of joining the Women Walk the World in April.
Whether you walk on your own or with your branch, please share your participation with us by tagging us in your images on Facebook or sending us a photo via email.
We still need to be supportive of all women of the World and at home especially now with the social isolation from the Coronavirus crisis can cause even more domestic violence and mental health problems.
Stay Strong, Stay Healthy and Stay Safe!
