Addressed Ad mail rates, RESOLVED that the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada urge Canada Post Corporation to review the minimum requirements for Addressed Ad Mail rates, and allow non-profit and charitable organizations to utilize this type of mailing for any number of items.
RESOLVED, That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Federal Government to continue and strengthen its support and efforts in dealing with the current crisis in the Canadian Fishing Industry.
FURTHERMORE, That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada, as a national organization require the Federal Government to impress upon the world community and the media, the impact of foreign over fishing on Canada's economy.
RESOLVED, That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request the Government of Canada recognize and pursue a policy that will maintain the unquestioned retention of Canadian sovereignty over our domestic water resources, which is fundamental and critical to the sustainable development to Canada's agricultural sector, and cont'-
Cont', FURTHER RESOLVED That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada remind the Government of Canada that, wording notwithstanding, nothing in the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement applies to Canada's water resources in other than bottled form.
RESOLVED, That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Human Resources and Social Development Minister of Canada to develop a national childcare policy that meets the needs of rural families and ensures that child care experience promotes the development and safety of children.
RESOLVED, That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Government of Canada to accommodate primary producers at the policy table when discussions are made concerning the agriculture industry. FURTHER RESOLVED, that appropriate and sufficient time be given to allow producers' participation in the decision making process.
RESOLVED; that the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Federal Government to support the Manitoba Government in its efforts to reject the Garrison project as it affect Canada.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request the Federal Ministers of Industry Canada, Environment Canada and Natural Resources to formulate and enforce laws that create a moratorium on natural (shale) gas exploration and exploitation.
RESOLVED; That the Federate Women's Institutes of Canada request that the Federal Government commit to joint management of the fishing resources with all concerned provinces.
RESOLVED, that the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request the Government of Canada to eliminate child poverty.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institute of Canada request that the Department of Justice Canada and Corrections impose more appropriate and consistent sentences that reflect the severity of the crime.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada strongly recommended to the Federal Government and all provincial governments that all sectors of the government recognize and support the importance and value of primary food producers and their food production by making all legislation fair and realistic when affecting agriculture.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Federal Ministers of Transport, Finance and Health to make a firm commitment, in cooperation with the provinces and territories, to develop a long-term national roadway plan and provide sustainable funding for the construction and maintenance of Canada's National Highway system for the safety of all Canadians.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada deplore the underground testing of Nuclear atomic weapons by the Government of India and request the Government of Canada to take immediate action to pressure the United Nations and other power countries to demand that India stops this testing immediately.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request the Canadian Medical Association to render Chelation therapy accessible to those children showing developmental delays and/ or intellectual impairment and/ or behavioural impairment (most notably Attention Deficit Disorder) due to lead and heavy metal toxicity in conjunction with elevated hair elemental analysis levels and/ or elevated urine elemental analysis following chelation challenge.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Federal Government to enact legislation that would make it Illegal to use a hand-held cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada, recognizing that the three major sources of lead in the Canadian environment are old leaded paint and old leaded plumbing in pre-1976 houses and in contaminated soil, strongly urge the Federal Government to provide sufficient funding for both public awareness programs and targeted lead screening of at risk populations, especially children.
RESOLVED; That the Federates Women's Institute of Canada request the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food to pass legislation to require all meat and meat by products sold in Canada to be labeled to indicate: the country of origin and the country in which the meat or meat by-product was packed.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Government of Canada to delay the approval of Bovine Somatotropin (BST) until more extensive research on the long-term effects of this hormone have been completed.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request the Federal Minister of Health to adopt the position of eradicating pediatric lead toxicity, by enacting a nation-wide campaign to increase public awareness of chronic lead toxicity, its sources, and its effects on behaviour and learning, with the eventual goal of nation-wide screening of children at school entry level (ages 3, 4, or 5) - cont'...
CONT'... using hair elemental analysis as first choice to screen for lead and other heavy metals such as cadmium, nickles, tin, aluminium, arsenic and mercury.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Woman's Institute of Canada request the Canadian Medical Association recognize hair elemental analysis as an acceptable marker for concern in lead and heavy metal toxicity.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada urge the Minister of Communication responsible for the National Library to seek change to the National Library Act so as to alleviate the financial burden on the National Library.
RESOLVED; That the Federate Women's Institutes of Canada urge all Provinces and Territories of Canada to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as is necessary by law, so that Canada may finally be recognized as implementing the promises made to children in 1990.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada establish a Federal accreditation program and Canadian Students studying abroad be granted greater access to residency training programs in Canada to encourage them to return to Canada to practice medicine.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada request that Canada establish a streamlined and time efficient Federal accreditation program that will allow Immigrating Family Physicians trained in other countries to be eligible to work in any province across Canada to practice medicine under one national licence to practice.
RESOLVED; the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada's request that Canada establish a federal accreditation program and Canadian students studying abroad be granted greater access to residency training programs in Canada to encourage them to return to Canada to practice medicine.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada are to initiate a Women's Advocacy & Awareness Campaign to increase the knowledge of this Public Health Crisis within Canada, and foster the development of a National Forensic Nursing Bursary fund.
RESOLVED; That the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada call on the Federal Government of Canada to standardize the Forensic Nurse Examiner/ Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training throughout Canada, and to call on the Ministry of Health SAFE Programs to be built and become staffed and operational throughout Canada for the safety of all victims of Sexual Violence, their children, and families.
